Rates and Services

• Copy editing for advertising: $35/hour
• Direct mail copy writing: $35/hour. $75 and up/item or $500/page.
• Event promotions/publicity $50/hour; $500/day.
• Press/news release $70-$100/hour; $500/project.
• Public relations for businesses: $250-600/day plus expenses average ($25/hour for organizations and non-profits.
• Sales letters: $2/word: $70/hour; $700/project.
• Speechwriting (general): $90/finished minute
• Ghostwriting (as told to, or no credit) By project
• Copy editing: $35/hour
• Annual reports: A brief report with some economic information and an explanation of figures, $70/hour; $500/page or day. Complete reports with research priced individually
• Book summaries for businesses: $35/page or $25/hour.
• Brochures, fliers, booklets for business: $25-40/hour for writing or from $500/project (12-16 pages and more).
• Business letters: $65/hour, depending on the size of the business and the length/complexity of the material, or $2/word.
• Business plan: $1/word; $200/manuscript page or up to $ I,500/project. High-end rates are charged if extensive research is involved. Sometimes research is charged separately per hour or per day.
• Business writing (general): $50/hour
• Consultation on business communications: $50/hour; $1,000 high/day Includes travel. Lower fees for nonprofits and small businesses.
• Copyediting for business: $30/hour or $35/manuscript page. up to $40/hour for business proposals. $25/hour to nonprofits and very small businesses.
• Corporate histories: $70/hour; $500/day; $1500/project.
• Ghostwriting for business (usually trade magazine articles or business columns): $5O/hour; $200 or more/day plus expenses (depending on amount of research involved, length of project).
• Grant proposal writing for nonprofits: $50/hour or flat fee.
• Manuals/documentation: $50/hour.
• Newsletters, abstracting: $30/hour.
• Newsletters, desktop publishing/production: $25/hour. Higher-end rates for scanning photographs, advertising layout. illustration or design. Editing charged extra.
• Newsletters, editing: $55/hour; $200-500/issue; $2/word. Higher-production is included. Monthly or per-issue rates for regular newsletter.
• Newsletters, writing: $60/hour; $1,350/project; $200 and up/page.
• Retail newsletters for customers: Charge regular newsletter rates or $250/4-page project. Additional charges for desktop publishing.
• Nonprofit editing: $30/hour.
• Nonprofit writing: $50/hour.
• Abstracting $25/hour for trade and professional journals; $30/hour for scholarly journals.
• Ads for small business: $25/small, one-column ad or $10/hour and up
• Editing/manuscript evaluation: $25/hour.
• Family histories: Fees depend on whether we edit already prepared notes or complete extensive research and writing, and the length of the work, $500- 15,000.
• Institutional (church, school) history: $500/15-5O pages, or $20-35/hour.
